This chapter highlights the gender imbalance in peacebuilding efforts, focusing on the Silencing the Gun (STG) agenda. Despite women’s critical roles, they are often relegated to victim status, overlooking their potential as active agents of peace. We argue that achieving STG in Africa requires acknowledging women’s agency and their substantial contributions. The chapter examines the case of Mozambican women peacebuilders, highlighting their experiences and challenges. Drawing on liberal peacebuilding and African feminist perspectives, the chapter utilizes documentary review to demonstrate the vital role women play. Our findings emphasize the necessity of including women in peace processes to achieve Agenda 2063s goal of silencing the guns. The chapter concludes with recommendations for increased female participation in peacebuilding initiatives for a more sustainable and inclusive STG agenda.
