In the first subchapter, the place of creative writing as a discipline is designated between pedagogical practices and the tradition of the workshop model. The theories that follow the pedagogical practices are based on the relationship between author, text, and reader, to approach the process of meaning and composition. The workshop model involves expanding this approach and collaborating with other disciplines such as performance art, digital technology, and film studies. In the second subchapter, the advantages of developing creative writing skills are highlighted from several perspectives: linguistic (developing language, practicing analytical skills in learning grammar, and using a richer vocabulary), psychological (increasing motivation, developing imagination and creative thinking), pedagogical (facilitating active learning, by engaging students in classroom activities), social (stimulating learning within the group). In the third subchapter, the systematic analysis of the last ten years of studies in creative writing is carried out. As a result of this analysis, four representative research directions were identified: studies that are based on the examination of the effects of creative writing on the development of some components; research that emphasizes to what extent the impact of different activities affects the development of creative writing skills; studies that aim to validate some evaluation tools of primary school students’ creative writing products; research focused on systematic analysis of literature specialized in the subject of creative writing.
