The unilateral bipolar endoscopic (UBE) approach is a relatively novel minimally invasive technique in spine surgery that is gaining popularity around the world [1, 2]. The technique utilizes two portals—one for the endoscope and the other portal for surgical instruments as mentioned in earlier chapters. Patients benefit from having less postoperative pain, quicker recovery, and minimal disruption of passive stabilizers of the spine such as paraspinal muscles and ligaments. Moreover, the risk of surgical site infection may be lower than that of the open approaches since the saline irrigation is continuously being run through the surgical site.
