Design Investigation of a Novel Back cum Bottom Rest Attachment for Chair Through Finite Element Analysis
摘要
Spending extended periods in a fixed sitting position can give rise to diverse back problems, including issues like slouching, back pain, spondylosis, and muscle tension, among various others. The aim of the proposed work is to conceptualize and develop a specialized attachment designed to serve as a stable foundation, fostering optimal pelvic alignment and trunk stability during prolonged sitting. This innovative back cum bottom rest attachment is intended to be seamlessly integrated into existing seating arrangements, providing essential support to individuals to sustain a spine-friendly posture over extended periods. Upon designing the attachment, a finite analysis is performed. Results were analyzed and indicated as stress, strain and deformation. The multifaceted approach encompasses ergonomic design principles and biomechanical considerations to create a practical solution that enhances comfort and reduces the potential for long-term musculoskeletal issues associated with prolonged sitting.
