The extropy of the n-th upper k-record value is used to characterize an exponential distribution. Based on the presented characterization result, we suggest test statistics to the goodness of fit test for exponentiality. Monte Carlo simulation is used to calculate the critical value and power of the test. The simulation study results show that the tests performed well in terms of power. To ensure that the test is practical, it is applied to seven real-life datasets.
