Nanofilter (NF) and Nanofilter membranes are known to utilize in industrial water, wastewater, and solution filtrations. The current chapter is emphasized on types and property of nanomaterials used in nanofiltration. Further, it has highlighted on evolution of NF, methods and mechanism of fabricating NF, synthesis and production of NF, methods for NF membrane preparation, and types of NF membranes. The application of NF in various industrial applications has led to innovation in NF technology. The innovative technologies have driven for their protection under patent. The present article also emphasizes the patent scenario on NF for their year-wise trends in patent application and geographical distribution of NF patent application. Furthermore, International Patent Classification (IPC) vs Global Patent application trend is observed to analyze domain-specific weightage in patent application in broad regions. Also, top applicants and innovators who hold the patent portfolio in NF patent are identified. At the last, application of NF in various industrial filtration processes and IPC subclass C02F on technologies related to industrial water treatment and purification in multinational phase via PCT is discussed.
