The cell cycle, also defined as the cell division cycle, refers to the whole process that a cell goes through from the completion of one division to the end of the next division. At the end of the cell cycle, two daughter cells with identical hereditary information of their parental cell will be formed. The cell cycle is an important physiological process for mature organism development from a single fertilized egg, which maintains the regeneration of blood cells, skin, and hair, and supports the repairing and restoring of damaged and impaired tissues. In eukaryotic cells, the whole process of cell cycle can be identified as two main stages: the interphase and the mitotic (M) phase.
