Exploring Participant Perspectives Through a Collaborative Art Project in a University Origami Mathematics Course
摘要
This paper presents an exploration of a collaborative Origami art project within an open-enrollment elective Origami art and mathematics course at a regional US public university. As part of the course, students work on a culminating project that requires them to collectively plan and develop a large-scale Origami art installation using skills and knowledge from the course. Details are shared on the unique structure of the collaborative art project and an exploration of the impact on participating students. Qualitative evidence gathered through written reflections revealed the development of core soft skills, including creativity and teamwork/collaboration. Findings suggest value in the collaborative Origami art project approach in a university course environment with additional studies needed to examine the impact formally.
