Algae have been used for fuels and wastewater treatment, among other things. The potential uses of phycoremediation have led researchers to focus more on developing algal-based technologies in order to better use their capacity for bioremediation and the production of by-products. Numerous algal species have been investigated and used in wastewater treatment. Phycoremediation is the method of employing algae to remove heavy metals and nutrients from sewage wastewater and industrial effluent. The fact that it is simple to grow, modify, and develop in an in vitro environment makes it useful for remediation research. Algae have been used for many purposes, such as the production of fuel, medications, and wastewater treatment. Phycoremediation is the process of utilizing algae to remove pollutants from wastewater, such as fertilizers, heavy metals, and other contaminants. This is done because algal species are often easy to grow, adapt, and control in an in vitro environment, making them seem like excellent organisms to use in remediation research. Phycoremediation is the process of using algae to biotransform or remove contaminants from wastewater. The use of this technology offers an alternative to the current practice of treating industrial effluents utilizing physical and chemical processes, among other conventional approaches.
