This chapter examines the co-benefits of hydroponics and aquaponics, emphasizing their ecological, economic, and nutritional advantages. These systems enhance resource efficiency by minimizing water usage compared to traditional soil-based agriculture, making them crucial for water-scarce regions. Furthermore, they offer year-round cultivation, mitigating seasonal limitations and ensuring consistent crop yields. Economically, hydroponics and aquaponics can be implemented in urban settings, reducing transportation costs and food miles. The nutrient-dense produce from these systems contributes to improved food security and nutrition.
