Molecular weight is one of the most important parameters that characterize polymer materials. The former part of this chapter details experimental methods for determining molecular weight, osmotic pressure, vapor pressure osmometry, sedimentation equilibrium, light scattering, and intrinsic viscosity. The latter part describes how to determine the molecular weight distribution by size-exclusion chromatography and MALD-TOF mass spectra. A comparison of the molecular weight distributions by these methods is also shown.

摘要

Molecular weight is one of the most important parameters that characterize polymer materials. The former part of this chapter details experimental methods for determining molecular weight, osmotic pressure, vapor pressure osmometry, sedimentation equilibrium, light scattering, and intrinsic viscosity. The latter part describes how to determine the molecular weight distribution by size-exclusion chromatography and MALD-TOF mass spectra. A comparison of the molecular weight distributions by these methods is also shown.
