The chapter reviews the potential of ammonia as a fuel for diesel engines in the transportation sector, focusing on its advantages, challenges, and technological adaptations. Ammonia, with its carbon-free composition, offers significant environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The study explores ammonia’s combustion characteristics, energy density, and storage requirements. Technological advancements, such as dual-fuel systems and catalytic converters, are also evaluated for optimizing ammonia usage in diesel engines.
