Low power fiber laser setup (50 W) has been successfully utilized to study the machining of AISI 304 stainless steel sheet. The laser power and laser scan speed were varied to test the cutting and machining capabilities of the laser machining setup. The laser processing at high power supply (15W) and low scan speed (3 mm/s 6 mm/s, and 9 mm/s) leads to cutting of stainless steel sheet. However, the tapper angle of the cut is very high at high power (15 W) due to high heat input. Further, the laser processing at low power (5 W) and all scan speed condition (3, 6, 9 mm/s) could not able to cut the steel sheet. However, the low power supply (10 W) is sufficient to make a through cut on the metal sheet.
