Design and Development of MediMate: The Low-Cost, Portable, OTP-Based Medicine Dispenser
摘要
A vital component of the efficient treatment of medical diseases is medication adherence. Patient safety risks, higher healthcare expenditures, and worse treatment results might result from non-adherence to recommended pharmaceutical regimens. To solve this issue, the “Automatic Medical Dispenser Using OTP” project offers a creative approach that blends one-time password (OTP) authentication with automation in drug delivery. This project describes an automated medical dispenser that uses OTP technology to improve security and make taking medications easier for patients. The system makes use of a secure communication module, a user-friendly interface, and a dispenser unit with compartments for different drugs. Medication information is the input into the system, and unique OTPs are generated for each datum, enhancing security and ensuring that only the intended patient can access their medication. The workflow of the system includes text-based doctor’s prescriptions, the generation of OTPs, user authentication, the delivery of medications, alarms, and data gathering. The technology lowers the possibility of drug mistakes, increases patient adherence, and improves overall healthcare results by optimizing the pharmaceutical delivery process. The way the project was carried out demonstrates an easy-to-use, safe system that provides remote monitoring and data collecting in addition to addressing medication adherence.
