Twigging the Global Character of AI in Public Sector: Opportunities and Thresholds

The use of Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an expected part of the contemporary world. Countries are leveraging AI technology to complement their existing e-governance initiatives, to increase productivity in the public sector. This study explores how AI is being applied across different countries’ public sectors and locates the vital global practices that can serve as models for e-governance in the public sector. The research examines AI’s use in various domains, including anti-corruption, auditing, citizen engagement, tax policy, tax compliance, customs, and healthcare. Nevertheless, like any IT tool, AI is not without risks. This study also takes into account the current challenges that have emerged during AI usage, such as trust, bias, cybersecurity, control, and privacy. By examining both the pros and cons associated with AI implementation, this research seeks to examine the public value of using AI in the public sector.
