Radiological manifestations of vitamin D deficiency can manifest in childhood as rickets and in adults as osteomalacia. Characteristic changes occur at the growth plate and appendicular skeleton. Bone softening in osteomalacia causes characteristic Looser’s zones and bone deformities in severe cases. Age of presentation and severity may vary depending on the cause, which ranges from genetic to nutritional or renal. Hypervitaminosis of vitamin D may present with osteopenia or osteosclerosis with dense metaphyseal bands and visceral and soft tissue calcifications.
