Traditional approaches, such as the Rational Unified Process (RUP), emphasize detailed planning and rigorous control, whereas agile methodologies, such as SCRUM, prioritize flexibility and iterative development. This article explores the key factors influencing the choice between these methodologies, focusing on the analysis of the development team using SWOT analysis. This approach identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with individual team members and the team. The findings provide a foundation for selecting the most suitable methodology, considering both the project’s requirements and the team’s capabilities. A case study demonstrates how team analysis impacted the decision between a traditional and an agile approach, underscoring the importance of quality team composition. The research concludes that choosing the right methodology enhances development efficiency, reduces risks, and increases the likelihood of successful project completion.
