Fast Fashion Practices and Trends: The Effect It Has on the Mental Health of Young Female Consumers
摘要
The paper aims to analyse the link between fast fashion practices and trends and the effects it has on the mental well-being of young consumers. The role of social media in promoting fast fashion brands is also inspected. Questions like, “How does fast fashion and fast paced trends affect individual’s mental health”? “Why is inclusivity necessary in fast fashion”? “How do these companies promote consumerism and what consequences does it have on the mental well-being of the targeted demographic?”, are addressed in this paper. Trends like shapewear and Y2K are critically analysed and how does a consumer’s mental health respond to them is studied in the corresponding script. Primary data is collected by issuing a survey for women in the age group of 15–18. Secondary data is studied using preceding literature review of the aforementioned topics.
