Art and health have long been intertwined, offering avenues for expression and healing. While art-based therapies are known to aid various diseases, weaving—an art that engages all senses—has been less explored. This paper examines the therapeutic potential of textile design through hand weaving, particularly for neurodegenerative disorders. By engaging both cognitive and physical domains, weaving could address human limitations and emotions. Neuroaesthetics shows that creative activities activate emotional responses and reward systems involving dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, which can benefit conditions like Parkinson’s. Weaving, through its multisensory nature—color, rhythm, patterns, and coordination—may enhance fine motor skills and stimulate the brain’s creative regions, offering positive therapeutic effects.
