A Study of Existing Solutions Related to the Posture Issues for the Elderly in the Context of the Western Region of India
摘要
The study examines the conditions related to various posture issues in the elderly resulting from age-related changes, worsened by a lack of awareness. Due to the heat environment in western India body tends to dehydrate and cause muscle fatigue, adding challenges to posture the lack of awareness of conditions like kyphosis, lordosis, and axilla among the elderly can lead to suffering from related spinal and postural abnormalities. Patients may not receive proper guidance or interventions, resulting in persistent discomfort and potentially worsening their condition. Existing solutions for posture issues may be limited by accessibility, cost, and individual will, making it difficult for everyone to access and benefit from them effectively. The existing products are uncomfortable, and restrictive, and may not address the root cause of poor posture. They might weaken muscles over prolonged usage and dependency on them may prevent natural improvements, potentially leading to worsening posture. The study adopts rapport building, interview, and journey mapping. The study proposes design recommendations to address the relevant challenges.
