Textile use in wellness originated in history when medicinal clothing (Ayurvastra) was utilized as a treatment to promote health and cure ailments. It saw a decline due to the advent of industrialization and poor promotion. However, in the last few decades, people have become more demanding for comfort and functionality in textiles, and they expect novelty in apparel. Wellness and cosmeto textiles are produced using modern technological methods to enhance well-being through wearable products. The finishing process is crucial in achieving these attributes in the fabric. These finishes aim to release adequate medical or cosmetic ingredients onto the wearer's skin for healing effects. These finishes contribute to the wearer's aroma, health, and hygiene by rejuvenating the skin, protecting against microbes, and providing a pleasant fragrance. Essential oils and biologically active compounds are preferably used for wellness finishing. The cosmeto and well-being finishes can be achieved by infusing or embedding essential oils or active ingredients while manufacturing fibers, yarns, and fabrics. These are done by microencapsulation (vitamins, fragrances, and drugs), coating of biologically active compounds (hydrogels or polymer metrics), and plasma treatments of textiles. This chapter will explore the various aroma, health, and hygiene finishes on various textile substrates. Additionally, sustainable embedded techniques for achieving wellness finishes will also be discussed.
