International Political Economy: Currency and Finance
摘要
This chapter explores international relations related to currency and finance following international trade. The exchange of goods is invariably linked to the flow of money. When monetary circulation is weak, it can lead to international currency crises that have profound effects on global political dynamics. Under what circumstances does currency achieve stability? While it may seem that pre-fixing the value of each nation’s currency would ensure stability, the reality is more complex. In fact, the currencies of many developed nations experience daily fluctuations. What are the reasons behind the adoption of a floating exchange rate system? How do stable fluctuations and abrupt changes that resemble currency crises arise, and what measures can be taken to mitigate them? This chapter will elucidate the interplay between international politics and the realms of currency and finance.
