Unlike the previous chapters, which focus on students’ perceptions and experiences of TNHE within China, Chapter 6 shifts its attention to an evidence-informed discussion of students’ experiences with TNHE abroad, highlighting the various challenges they face. The chapter begins with an introduction that sets the context for this exploration. It then examines the theoretical framework that underpins these experiences. Following this, the method section details the research approach used to investigate these experiences. The chapter also explores the academic and cultural challenges faced by students engaged in TNHE, providing insights into the difficulties they encounter while studying overseas. Building on this, it discusses adaptation and acculturation strategies employed by Chinese students to navigate these challenges, detailing how they cope with new environments and integrate into diverse cultural settings. In the concluding section, the chapter sheds light on current practices in TNHE and explores potential ways forward.
