This article argues that the demand for sense constitutes the very movement of philosophical discourse. It is in the confrontation with non-sense—with the nihilation of sense—that philosophy asserts and grounds itself, but the spectres of non-sense could not be conjured away once and for all. Philosophy remains haunted by the possibility of non-sense that would interrupt its closure.
