This chapter summarizes the achievements and limitations of the corpus-based component of the present research, addressing six key issues: (1) the proposed mechanism and its theoretical motivations; (2) the evaluation of alternative mechanisms; (3) the validity of the data; (4) the classifications of conditional conjunctions; (5) suggestions for further research; and (6) a tentative concluding remark.
