Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and other small developing states in the Caribbean vary in their capacity to undertake national pharmacovigilance to monitor the safety of medicines and vaccines that are used in their markets. The Caribbean Regulatory System under the Caribbean Public Health Agency is a subregional mechanism established through the Caribbean Pharmaceutical Policy (2013) to support pharmaceutical regulation of Caribbean countries, including pharmacovigilance. Following the pilot of the Caribbean network for pharmacovigilance (VigiCarib) in 2017, a subregional reporting system for case reports for suspected adverse drug reactions and substandard/falsified medical products was established. With the use of COVID-19 vaccines from 2021 onward, a reporting format for adverse events following immunization was also introduced. Between 2017 and July 2023, the network received 585 case reports of events detected in the various Member States. These included reports from market authorization holders who received cases directly from health professionals in private and public sector. Via its monthly newsletter, the team communicates information about case reports received by the regional and global reporting systems, summaries of reporting by countries, and incidents or alerts for national vigilance. The VigiCarib reporting network provides opportunities for collection of reports for Member States without reporting systems, information sharing for national vigilance, and capacity building through workshops.

摘要
