Hospitals are complex systems whose planning can be challenging. Hospital planning is a relevant task not only for an individual hospital but also for the entire healthcare system. However, it is often carried out by staff who are not explicitly trained. There is also a lack of a structured planning procedure that can be applied to all use cases and takes all planning disciplines into account. As a result, hospital planners do not have suitable planning support. The consequences occur during construction or often only during operation, for example when users complain about customised solutions or long travel distances in the hospital. Therefore, a planning procedure must be defined that realises the coordination and integration of the sub-disciplines of hospital planning in terms of content and time according. To accomplish this, the basic idea of Synergetic Factory Planning is taken up. This ensures that all requirements from planning and operation are taken into account at the appropriate steps in hospital planning. It should also be low-threshold and applicable to all use cases. This paper outlines a three-step methodical approach for defining such a synergetic planning procedure for hospitals with the help of hospital objects and with the support of the DSM method.
