Physical Properties of Cementless Materials Using Classified Woody Biomass Combustion Ash

Compressive strength and shrinkage tests were conducted to investigate the fundamental properties of cementless materials made of combustion ash from woody biomass power plants, fly ash from thermal power plants, and slaked lime. The test formulation consisted of a 70% water-binder ratio, a constant slaked lime replacement ratio of 26%, and three levels of fly ash replacement ratio. Two types of woody biomass combustion ashes were used: dried ashes and classified ashes that had passed through a 0.15 mm sieve. Consequently, the strength of the specimens tended to increase when the combustion ash was classified. In addition, the compressive strength and shrinkage properties of the specimens changed with different curing methods.
