Mechanical Properties of Concrete Incorporate with Luffa Cylindrica Fibre and Cuttlefish Bone

There is a growing interest in using natural additives, such as Luffa cylindrica (also known as sponge gourd) and Cuttlefish Bone (CFB), into concrete. These materials are being investigated for their potential to improve the characteristics of concrete while decreasing the need for artificial additives and minimising environmental consequences. The objective of the study is to investigate the utilisation of Luffa Cylindrica Fibre (LCF), a natural fibre, and CFB powder, a marine-based filler, to improve the compressive, tensile, and splitting strengths in concrete, especially in the early age of concrete. This approach intends to decrease dependence on non-renewable resources and mitigate environmental impacts. The Luffa-Cuttlefish Concrete (LCC) was created by combining LCF with varying amounts of 0%, 1%, and 2% while maintaining a constant ratio of 1% CFB. The results observed in this study indicated that the incorporation of LCF and CFB into the concrete mix improved the mechanical properties of concrete as compared to the control specimens.
