摘要

Point-of-care (POC) testing has transformed the landscape of diagnostic medicine, as it has made point-of-care testing systems for the recognition of many pathogens and biomarkers at the point of action, resulting in proper understanding of the disease condition. This chapter focuses on the next generation of nanosensors, which are important for advanced POC testing technologies. They have excellent specificity, sensitivity, and miniaturization and offer a transformative approach to diagnostics. The chapter explains about the fundamental principles and different types of nanosensors involved in electrochemical, optical, and magnetic nanosensors, which are specifically designed for the noted analytes with stringently accurate sensing parameters. Specific segments of the chapter discuss nanomaterial synthesis and functionalization for these sensors, including gold nanoparticles, quantum dots, and carbon nanotubes, which enhance the performance of these sensors. We explore the incorporation of nanosensors in user-friendly and portable POC devices, emphasizing their role in many applications, from infectious disease diagnosis and chronic disease management to personalized medicine. The chapter also covers issues and future perspectives, including how to move from a manufacturing process at a small scale, how to obtain approval, and how to create a versatile platform for multiplexed detection. Case studies and recent advancements highlight the practical impact of nanosensors, emphasizing their potential to improve healthcare accessibility and enhance patient outcomes globally. In conclusion, nanosensors represent a revolutionary step forward from conventional POC testing methods, which have the potential to revolutionize diagnostics. Their integration into current technology as the platform advances ensures the enhancement of the efficiency, quality and general application of medical practice as a means of health care enhancement and disease eradication.
