Challenges and Prospects for Organic Agriculture Among Women Entrepreneurs for Women-Led Agri Start-up
摘要
Agriculture is essential for human survival, and the contributions of women to this sector are invaluable. Women play a vital role in both small and large farms, providing food for their households, communities, and beyond. However, despite their significant contributions, women frequently encounter cultural, social, and economic barriers that restrict their productivity and hinder their full participation in agricultural development. These challenges are further compounded in the niche sector of organic agriculture. Therefore, this study aims to examine the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by women entrepreneurs in the organic agriculture sector. A quantitative survey design was employed, gathering responses from 645 women engaged in organic farming across the North Indian Hill states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh. Through the SMART PLS Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and mediation model, the path analysis of variables was analyzed. It was found that all the significant challenges together explain organic agriculture among women entrepreneurs. Thus, challenges hindering organic agriculture among women entrepreneurs found to be good predictor for effecting women-led agri start-up.
