The changes on the geopolitical stage have exerted pressure on the institutionalized multilateral systems as countries have opted to seek intergovernmental cooperation and new modes of governance outside the formal framework. This transition has seen the rise of economic corridors as instrumental in promoting cross-border trade and regional linkages. The paper analyzes the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and how its unique form brings together countries with different governance systems and priorities. IMEC places strong emphasis on construction, renewable resources, and sustainable development making it a good example to be emulated in tackling world issues. The study places economic corridors in the context of international governance institutions: do they constitute a new architecture or fit in the existing ones? The results help to know the economic corridors are geopolitically strategically vital for a multipolar world.

摘要
