Rise of space tourism has transported the idea of orbital hotels, or “floating sanctuaries,” from science fiction to real life innovation. The subsequent chapters of this book chapter discuss multidisciplinary challenges associated with the design of spacecraft hotels with a focus on technical challenges such as artificial gravity generation, radiation shielding, and closed-loop life support systems.
