This chapter attempts to establish a sociological-synodal approach to Christian discernment as part of lay healthcare workers’ social spirituality. It adopts an inculturated and sociological Ignatian discernment process that extends finding God’s will not just in the emotions generated from the self but also from the immediate social environment. It argues that the existing emphasis on theological and individualist approach to discernment is inadequate to address a commodified heath care. Discernment in lay Catholic social spirituality is not only personal but also communal and social in scope. It recommends the adoption of an inductive sociological approach to discernment for Catholic healthcare workers’ social spirituality to update the current deductive philosophical and theological method.
