This chapter aims to lay down the macro social foundation of Catholic healthcare workers’ lay social spirituality that applies the sociological concept of diffused religion as well as civil society’s social reform agenda for health care in contemporary age. It argues that active involvement in civil society and its advocacy for healthcare reform is a necessary component of Catholic healthcare workers' social spirituality to respond to the growing commodification of the healthcare system as part of their quest for personal holiness.

摘要
