The exciton spin polarization all-optical switching (AOS) in the nanocrystal quantum dots (NQDs) is discussed in the sub-picosecond time domain. Here, we address the question of how to convert a standard pump-probe experimental setup to demonstrate the AOS effect in the NQDs. The problem of the spatial uniformity of the NQD sample affecting the switching speed of the AOS is also addressed. Note that the main problem comes from the fact that the transmitted signal in the exciton spin-polarized configuration is low, which inhibits the faster switching speed with an incomplete switch-off state of the AOS device. The solution to the problem of the low transmission signal is addressed in this chapter.

摘要
