This chapter begins with an introduction to the degenerate two-photon absorption (D-2PA), the nondegenerate two-photon absorption (ND-2PA), and the extremely nondegenerate two-photon absorption (END-2PA) processes. Nevertheless, we try to address the issue of why the END-2PA coefficient values of certain semiconductor materials are significantly enhanced in comparison to the D-2PA and the ND-2PA coefficient values.
