This chapter provides an overview of the regulatory framework for embryo testing in the UK and compares this to the Australian regulatory model for embryo testing described in the previous chapter. The UK has been chosen as a comparator because it is considered a world leader in the regulation of assisted reproductive technology. As a result, this chapter considers whether there are useful aspects of the UK system of regulation that could play a role in the development of a revised regulatory framework for embryo testing in Australia.
