An Attempt to Reduce the Rate of Accidents on Samruddhi Mahamarg

Samruddhi Mahamarg, a crucial infrastructure project, aims to transform transportation in Maharashtra, India. However, ensuring the safety of commuters and minimizing accident rates on this ambitious expressway is paramount. This review paper delves into existing literature, strategies, and technologies employed worldwide to mitigate accidents on expressways and highways. It scrutinizes various factors contributing to roadway accidents, including human errors, infrastructure deficiencies, and environmental conditions, and proposes comprehensive measures to enhance safety on Samruddhi Mahamarg. This work highlights the significance of proactive planning, rigorous enforcement of traffic regulations, advanced technologies such as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and effective public awareness campaigns in accident prevention. Additionally, it explores innovative engineering solutions for road design, construction, and maintenance, tailored to the unique challenges of Samruddhi Mahamarg. By synthesizing diverse perspectives, this study provides valuable insights for policymakers, engineers, and stakeholders involved in Samruddhi Mahamarg's development. Implementation of the outlined strategies has the potential to significantly reduce accident rates and foster a safer transportation network in Maharashtra.
