Bulk Growth of Highly Transparent Triglycine Sulphate (TGS) Single Crystals for IR Sensor Applications

The focus of the present investigation is to grow bulk good quality single crystals for ferroelectric applications. Triglycine Sulphate (TGS) was crystallized by simple low temperature solution growth. Further for the cubic growth of TGS analysis slow evaporation methods adopted. The structural analysis of the grown single crystal was studied using Powder X-Ray Diffraction successive analysis, which confirms the crystal system of the grown single crystal is monoclinic. UV-Vis-NIR analysis confirms the transparency in the range 300–1100 nm with a lower cut-off at 241 nm. Room temperature dielectric ferroelectric properties was investigated to test in electrical properties of the grown crystals. These preliminary investigation reveals that TGS crystals as a potential room temperature ferroelectric material.
