The purpose of this study was to look at the microstructural properties and wettability of an HVOF coating made of graphene-reinforced WC10Co4Cr and applied on IS-2062 naval-grade steel surfaces that had been sandblasted and laser textured. The application of WC10Co4Cr and WC10Co4Cr with an additional 2% graphene nanoparticles (GNPs) was carried out using the HVOF coating method, followed by an in-depth analysis of their microstructural properties and wettability behaviours. The investigation revealed that the WC10Co4Cr + 2% GNPs coating displayed hydrophobic properties, attributed to the low surface energy imparted by GNPs and the suitable surface roughness achieved through laser texturing. The microhardness of the coated surface was calculated using a Vickers microhardness tester, and its practical durability was assessed through a tape peel test. Moreover, FE-SEM images were utilized to thoroughly examine the microstructures and morphologies of the coated surfaces, establishing correlations between the observed characteristics and the study’s conclusions.

摘要
