On Tuesday, the first day of Jumada II 1063 [April 29, 1653], corresponding to the 10th of Urdibihisht, the seventh year of the third decade of the reign began joyously. Rana Jagat Singh’s son Raj Singh, whose family had been patronized and kept by this dynasty, was promoted to the rank of 5000/5000 and given the rana title, and an edict confirming this title of his ancestors, a royal robe, a bejeweled dagger with a phulkatara, two horses from the royal stable, one a Persian with a gold saddle and the other a Turkish with a gilded saddle, and an elephant from the royal stable were sent with Raja Bethal Das’s brother Bardhan and Kalyan Jhala, the rana’s deputy. What his father had held in fief of his homeland, corresponding to a rank of 5000/5000, was granted to him, and Bardhan was given a robe, a promotion in rank, and a horse, and Kalyan Jhala was given a robe and a horse with a silver saddle.
