Optimization of Sensors for Comprehensive Vibration Condition Monitoring at Large Sites
摘要
Continuous process plants such as Power, Oil and Gas, Steel, Cement, and others will have several critical equipment needing continuous vibration monitoring systems. Such systems measure vibration levels 24 x 7 and provide alarm and trip signals for machinery protection. The system normally will also have vibration analysis software for FFT, time waveform, trend, orbit analysis, etc. These aid in vibration analysis and problem diagnostics. Sometimes, the software will also have the capability of displaying auto-diagnostic messages on the screen. The technical specification for a vibration monitoring system will ask for X and Y measurement of vibration on all bearings. This is not desirable often and amounts to excess spending for new or renovation projects. The specification seldom asks for vibration measurement in the axial direction, which is important in providing full protection to the machine. Axial measurements are also required for aiding in diagnostics. Thus, technical specifications for vibration monitoring and analysis systems are not adequate. They are also not optimal from a cost point of view.
