Abnormal body temperature is one of the cautionary physiological indicator for various illness. In the face of highly contagious diseases like COVID-19, Influenza (Flu), Ebola Virus disease (EVD), early detection of symptoms, especially elevated body temperature, is essential to prevent the spread of infections. Traditional contact-based temperature measurement methods, such as thermometers, are not suitable for widespread use in public spaces due to the risk of cross-contamination. These systems require physical contact, which can increase the potential for transmission of pathogens in crowded environments. Consequently, the demand for non-contact temperature measurement systems has become critical in such pandemic eras, particularly for public management in urban spaces. To mitigate disease transmission, social distancing has been widely recognized as an effective preventive measure by governments and researchers. This project aims to devise a smart system for non-contact temperature measurement and social distance maintenance during pandemics. The system employs an infrared thermal sensor to capture thermal images of each individual visiting the commercial spaces and process to identify the body temperature. The system is designed in such a way as to alert individuals with elevated temperature to maintain appropriate social distancing and to share the location with nearby regional health care centres that aid in preventing the further spread of disease from potential carriers. This smart device is capable of continuously monitoring the body temperature of neighbours and an indispensable tool for proactive public health management, minimizing risks, and ensuring the safety of the general population.

摘要
