Blockchain technology would transform the agricultural supply chain in that it provides true benefits to farmers. Decentralization, transparency, and security features in blockchain technologies solve long-standing problems associated with traditional supply chains such as inefficiencies and a lack of trust. The paper discusses some ways blockchain can help increase traceability, improve the use of smart contracts, and expand direct access to markets and data management for agricultural activities. There are some practical applications and success stories that have been demonstrated by real-world applications; this reveals the pragmatic implications of this technology. Despite these challenges and barriers to the large-scale adoption of the blockchain, the potential that exists within this technology can enhance farmers’ profitability and increase decision-making abilities as well as reduce risk factors. Finally, the paper concludes by focusing on trends into the future, considering coordination and collaboration among stakeholders to establish sustainable practice, and further considering the integration of emergent technologies to ensure maximal usage of blockchain in agriculture.

摘要
