The Twenty-20 format of cricket has revolutionized the game with its fast-paced, high-scoring nature, and the Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as one of the most popular Twenty-20 tournaments worldwide. The study tries to compute the batting position-specific weight in the case of Twenty-20 Internationals and IPL. The batting position-specific weight helps researchers quantify the bowler’s performance by assigning the weight of the wicket taken by the bowlers. Previously, the researchers used to compute bowling performance by assuming equal weight to each wicket, i.e., whether they will take top-order wickets or lower-order wickets. Thus, the current study addresses this issue by collecting data on the run-scoring pattern of batters according to batting position. Since the batting condition for the batters differs for all the matches, we computed the average adjusted runs for a particular batting position to incorporate this factor. These average adjusted runs according to batting position are then plotted, and using the curve expert software, we identified the best possible curve for Twenty-20 International and IPL. The best possible curve is the Gaussian and MMF curves for Twenty-20 International and IPL, respectively. The best possible curve is then used to get the batting position-specific weight for the batsman. The weight thus obtained is then used to measure the performance of the top ten Twenty-20 bowlers and accordingly rank them using the combined bowling rate by incorporating the batting position-specific weight.
