Recommended Early Childhood Intervention Services and Programs for the Asia–Pacific: A Comparative Overview
摘要
This book includes case studies from Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Mainland China, New Zealand, and Singapore on the development of provisions for early childhood intervention (ECI) for children with disabilities (birth to 6 years) and their families. Each case study has identified an array of promising intervention initiatives, most of which are predominantly services and programs. Details were provided of key features such as overall model design, funding arrangements, staff training needs, benefits, challenges, evaluative mechanisms, and implementation recommendations. In this final chapter, a macro-comparative analysis and synthesis of these initiatives and their features are reported. The potential adoption of any of the ECI initiatives by countries in Asia and the Pacific is also examined in relation to contextual influences. Insights taken from this macro-analysis are then presented. Taken together, the content of this chapter may assist other countries at varying points of development along their own journey to provide quality early intervention for young children with disabilities and to deliver family support and parenting skills.
