This work presents the design of a prototype video game for diabetes self-management. Initially, it highlights the issue of training diabetic patients to adequately self-manage their blood glucose levels. Considering this situation, the idea of applying Gamification techniques to facilitate the training process emerged. Utilizing the available information about the target group, a video game aimed at diabetic individuals, average age 45 to 55, was developed. The process followed to create the prototype is detailed, along with a description of the prototype. The concept of the game and its mechanics are described. Relevant aspects are also highlighted, such as the similarity of the glucose graph to those shown by continuous glucose monitoring systems and the appearance of the insulin dispenser. The objective of the game is for the player to learn to dose the necessary amounts of insulin according to blood glucose levels and to understand the relationship between carbohydrate intake and the required insulin doses. Finally, initial conclusions from the first usability tests conducted with the prototype are cited.
