This study examines the impact of mentoring programs in higher education, focusing on reducing the gender gap and promoting multiculturalism in STEM disciplines. The initiative was conducted between the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar and the University of Salamanca as part of the W-STEM Network, which seeks to attract more women to STEM programs in Latin America. A qualitative methodology based on focus groups was used with eleven participants, all female STEM students. The results show that mentoring not only provides academic and emotional support, but also fosters the development of technical competencies and soft skills essential for professional success. Interaction with mentors from diverse cultural backgrounds enriches learning and promotes an environment of innovation and collaboration. International mobility experiences underscore the importance of exposure to different cultures and academic approaches, preparing students for the challenges of international mobility.
