Chatbots have the potential to enhance support access for individuals with accessibility needs more efficiently and effectively. Nonetheless, there is limited research on designing accessible chatbots, assessing their accessibility, and identifying the best practices for using them to support individuals with accessibility needs. In this study, we test out a reduced version of the Natural Language Interface Accessibility User Requirements (NAUR) including 10 user needs and requirements by 37 undergraduate computer science students at the National University of Distance Education (UNED) to test an IT support chatbot. Results show a good level of agreement and indicate accessibility errors that make the chatbot inaccessible for those with visual and cognitive needs. The next steps suggest using an improved set of user needs and requirements and comparing results with different chatbots and virtual assistants available for student support.
